Mental Health and Learning
Horse and Buddy is proud to offer several programs in the mental health and learning field.
Mental Health Therapy with Horses
Our mental health therapy programs offer a unique, experiential approach that helps clients develop coping skills, strengthen relationships, and process emotions in a supportive environment alongside horses.
Sessions are guided by a licensed mental health professional, an equine specialist, and horses who help create opportunities for connection, reflection, and growth.
The equine specialist is certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) and helps guide horse-human interactions, interpret equine behavior, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of both clients and horses.
We offer two therapy options based on the age and needs of each client:
Equine Partnered Play Therapy
A child-centered play therapy approach that incorporates miniature equines into the therapeutic process. Through play children can safely explore emotions, build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and develop healthy coping strategies.
Offered for children ages 4–10. Click here to learn more about EPPT.
An experiential therapy approach that incorporates horses into the counseling process to support emotional growth, self-awareness, relationship building, and personal insight.
Offered for children ages 11+ and adults. Click here to learn more about EAP.
Equine Assisted Learning
Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is a unique, experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills in partnership with horses, while working with them on the ground.
We offer on-going individual sessions and group learning experiences. Click here to learn more about EAL.
If you’ve never been near a horse before, no problem. No horse experience is necessary or expected.
